What is an Art Brat?


I am.

Hi, I'm Geren Lockhart - born to two artists who believed the world was on the cusp of transformation when they named me Geren, a name that in my decades of exploring the world I've yet to find anywhere else. Perhaps they were early adopters of the multiverse theory, or maybe they were inadvertently future-proofing my digital identity decades before social media existed.


Growing up as an Art Brat in the 70s & 80s meant living outside conventional boundaries, much like an Army Brat, but through a creative lens that shaped how I see and move through the world. That perspective has guided my journey through advertising, founding multiple brands, and deep dives into fashion, home, travel, food, sustainability, and conscious business - always questioning, always observing, always seeking connections others might miss.


Now, Art Brat is becoming something bigger: a platform for sharing stories that matter. From unexpected encounters with history on morning coffee runs, to witnessing global moments that reshape our understanding of humanity, to exploring how our daily choices ripple out into the world. Here, we'll examine the intersection of creativity, consciousness, and change - not just through my lens, but as a community of people who believe in the power of seeing things differently.
